I was looking for a dear grave. I had gone around the entire land And was sobbing with bitter tears “Where are you, my darling?” I saw a rose in the bushes That was shining like the dawn. And I asked it with trepidation: “Are you my darling?” A birdie began to sing to me And I asked the nightingale “Say sonorous little bird, - Are you my love?” The nightingale, having tilted its head Was whistling in the bushes As though having affectionately replied: “You guessed it.
