The row of guns prepares for battle Glistening ominously in the sun We are going from the dock faithfully into battle Menacing death coming towards us. We will die for the homeland on the open sea Where yellow-faced devils await! The thunder of cannons and the hiss of projectiles Whistles and booms and rumbles around And our fearless and proud Varyag became Similar to pitch-black hell Bodies quiver in death-throes. There is the thunder of guns and din and groaning And the ship is covered by a sea of fire. The time for good-bye has arrived Farewell, comrades, godspeed - hurrah! The boiling sea is below us. We did not think, brothers, any of us, yesterday That today we will die beneath the waves Neither stone nor cross will say where we lay down To the glory of the Russian flag. Just the sea waves alone will glorify The Varyag's heroic loss of life! |
